Hezekiah — 2 Kings 19:14-19, 32-37

OPEN IT

Describe a time when you faced a seemingly insurmountable challenge. How did you approach it?

DIG INTO IT

Read 2 Kings 19:14-19, 32-37

1. What action did Hezekiah take with the threatening letter from the king of Assyria (v. 14)?

2. How does Hezekiah address God in his prayer, and what attributes of God does he emphasize (v. 15-16)?

3. What specific requests does Hezekiah make in his prayer (v. 17-19)?

4. What promise does God make through Isaiah regarding the Assyrian threat (v. 32-34)?

5. How was God’s promise fulfilled, and what happened to the Assyrian army (v. 35-37)?

REFLECT ON IT

1. How does Hezekiah’s response to the threat challenge or inspire your own approach to difficult situations?

2. In what ways can you relate to Hezekiah’s act of spreading out his concerns before God?

3. How might Hezekiah’s story encourage those facing seemingly hopeless circumstances?

4. What does this passage teach us about the power of prayer in times of crisis?

5. How can Hezekiah’s example inspire us to trust God’s power and sovereignty in our own challenges?

PRAY ABOUT IT

Thank God for His power to intervene in impossible situations. Ask for faith to bring your concerns before God, just as Hezekiah did. Pray for discernment to recognize God’s work in resolving the challenges you face.
