February 2025 Study #1

Small Group Bible Study: 1 Peter 4:7-11

Open It:

Icebreaker Question: Have you ever had to act quickly or decisively because you felt that time was short? What was the situation and how did it turn out?

Dig Into It:

  1. Peter starts by noting that the end of all things is near and therefore encourages sober-mindedness and watchfulness for the sake of prayers (1 Peter 4:7). How does the awareness of time being short influence our priorities and spiritual disciplines?

  2. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining deep love for one another because love covers over a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8). How can practicing persistent love impact community dynamics and personal relationships?

  3. Peter advises believers to be hospitable to one another without grumbling (1 Peter 4:9). What challenges might arise from practicing hospitality, and how can believers overcome them?

  4. The passage highlights the use of spiritual gifts to serve others as faithful stewards of God’s grace, specifying speaking and serving (1 Peter 4:10-11). How do these gifts contribute to the functioning of the Christian community, and how can individuals identify and utilize their own gifts?

  5. Peter concludes by reminding believers that everything they do should be done so that God may be glorified through Jesus Christ (1 Peter 4:11). What practical steps can we take to ensure our actions bring glory to God?

Reflect On It:

  1. Considering "the end of all things is near," how can you better focus your life on activities that have eternal significance?

  2. Reflect on your ability to love deeply even when it is challenging. Are there current relationships where you need to apply this principle more effectively?

  3. How have you experienced or provided hospitality recently? What did you learn from that experience about serving others joyfully?

  4. Think about the spiritual gifts you possess. How are you currently using these gifts, and what more could you do to serve the community?

  5. Evaluate your daily actions and decisions: Are they aligned with the goal of glorifying God? What changes might you need to make to better reflect this purpose?

Pray About It:

Heavenly Father, as we recognize the urgency of living faithfully in these final days, help us to prioritize prayer, love deeply, practice hospitality, and use our gifts effectively. Guide us in all our actions to reflect Your grace and glory. Give us the strength and wisdom to serve Your community and bring honor to Your name through everything we do. May our lives be a testament to Your enduring love and mercy. In the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, we pray. Amen.
