February 2026 Study #1
THE BIRTH AND CHILDHOOD OF JESUS
INTRODUCTION:
The birth and early years of Jesus Christ are foundational to our Christian faith. Through the stories of the Annunciation, the Nativity, and Jesus’ childhood, we gain insight into the miraculous nature of His incarnation and the profound impact His coming would have on the world. In this study, we will explore the biblical accounts of these events and consider their significance for our lives today.
OPEN IT:
Have you ever experienced a moment in your life when you felt God was calling you to something unexpected or challenging? How did you respond to that call, and what did you learn about God’s plan and purpose through that experience?
DIG INTO IT:
Read Luke 1:26-38. What do you learn about Mary’s character and faith from her response to the angel Gabriel’s message?
In Matthew 1:18-25, how does Joseph demonstrate his righteousness and obedience to God, even in the face of an unexpected and potentially scandalous situation?
Examine Luke 2:1-20. What is the significance of the humble circumstances surrounding Jesus’ birth, and how do they reflect God’s heart for the lowly and marginalized?
According to Matthew 2:1-12, how does the visit of the Magi underscore the global implications of Jesus’ birth and His identity as the Savior for all nations?
In Luke 2:41-52, what does the account of the young Jesus in the temple reveal about His unique relationship with God the Father and His growing understanding of His divine mission?
REFLECT ON IT:
How does the story of Mary’s willing submission to God’s plan challenge you in your own faith journey? In what areas of your life do you need to trust God more fully and embrace His calling?
Reflect on the humility and obedience demonstrated by Joseph. How can his example inspire you to be more responsive to God’s guidance, even when it may be difficult or counter-cultural?
The birth of Jesus in a lowly manger underscores God’s love for the poor and marginalized. How can you practically demonstrate this same love and concern for those on the fringes of society?
The Magi’s journey to worship the Christ child reminds us that Jesus came for people of all nations and backgrounds. How can you cultivate a heart for the lost and a passion for seeing the gospel spread to the ends of the earth?
As Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, He remained fully committed to His Heavenly Father’s will. How can you nurture your own relationship with God and seek to align your life more fully with His purposes?
PRAY ABOUT IT:
Heavenly Father, we marvel at the miracle of Your Son’s birth and the profound love and humility He demonstrated from the very beginning of His earthly life. As we reflect on the stories of the Annunciation, the Nativity, and Jesus’ childhood, grant us a deeper appreciation for the significance of His incarnation. Help us to emulate the faith, obedience, and submission we see in Mary and Joseph. Give us Your heart for the poor and marginalized, and inspire us to share the good news of Christ’s coming with people of all nations and backgrounds. May we, like the young Jesus, grow in wisdom and stature, ever committed to knowing and fulfilling Your will for our lives. We pray this in the name of our Savior and King, Jesus Christ. Amen.
