Read Acts 16:11-15, 40
Where did Paul and his companions find Lydia, and what was she doing there (v. 13)?
How is Lydia described, and what was her occupation (v. 14)?
What action did God take regarding Lydia, and how did she respond (v. 14-15)?
What invitation did Lydia extend to Paul and his companions, and how did she present it (v. 15)?
How did Lydia’s home serve the early church after Paul and Silas were released from prison (v. 40)?
REFLECT ON IT
How does Lydia’s openness to the gospel and immediate response challenge or inspire your own faith journey?
In what ways can you relate to Lydia’s use of her resources (home, business) to support God’s work?
How might Lydia’s story encourage believers, especially women, in their role in the church and ministry?
What does this passage teach us about the importance of hospitality in the Christian community?
How can Lydia’s example inspire us to be more generous and open with our homes and resources for God’s work?
PRAY ABOUT IT
Thank God for the example of faithful and generous believers like Lydia. Ask for discernment to recognize opportunities to use your resources for God’s kingdom. Pray for a heart of hospitality and a willingness to open your home and life to serve others in the faith.
