October 2025 Study #1
Timothy — 2 Timothy 1:3-14
OPEN IT
Think about a mentor who has had a significant impact on your life. What qualities made them effective in guiding you?
DIG INTO IT
Read 2 Timothy 1:3-14
How does Paul describe his relationship with Timothy, and what emotions does he express (v. 3-4)?
What does Paul say about Timothy’s faith and its origins (v. 5)?
What specific instruction does Paul give Timothy regarding his gift, and why (v. 6-7)?
How does Paul encourage Timothy to respond to potential hardship or shame (v. 8-12)?
What does Paul instruct Timothy to do with the teaching he has received (v. 13-14)?
REFLECT ON IT
How does Paul’s mentorship of Timothy challenge or inspire your own relationships with younger believers?
In what ways can you relate to Timothy’s need for encouragement in his faith and ministry?
How might Paul’s words about not being ashamed of the gospel apply to our lives today?
What does this passage teach us about the importance of spiritual heritage and mentorship?
How can Timothy’s example inspire us to be both good mentees and mentors in our faith journey?
PRAY ABOUT IT
Thank God for the spiritual mentors in your life. Ask for wisdom and courage to use your gifts effectively for God’s kingdom. Pray for opportunities to mentor others and pass on the faith, as Paul did with Timothy.
