Recall a time when you felt alone in standing up for what you believed was right. How did you handle that situation?

Read 1 Kings 18:20-39
What challenge did Elijah present to the people and the prophets of Baal (v. 21-24)?
How did the prophets of Baal attempt to prove the power of their god, and what was the result (v. 26-29)?
What specific actions did Elijah take in preparing his altar and sacrifice (v. 30-35)?
What was the content of Elijah's prayer, and why might each element be significant (v. 36-37)?
How did God respond to Elijah's prayer, and what was the people's reaction (v. 38-39)?
REFLECT ON IT
How does Elijah's boldness in confronting the prophets of Baal challenge your own faith and witness?
In what ways can you relate to Elijah's experience of standing alone for God?
How might Elijah's meticulous preparation of the sacrifice inform our own approach to serving God?
What does this passage teach us about the importance of public demonstrations of God's power?
How can Elijah's example inspire us to trust God in seemingly impossible situations?
PRAY ABOUT IT
Thank God for His power to act in miraculous ways. Ask for courage to stand firm in your faith, even when you feel alone. Pray for opportunities to demonstrate God's power in your life in ways that draw others to Him.
